Do I Need a Logo

Do I Need A Logo?

How many of you have a side hustle like an MLM and you work from your kitchen table? How many of you work your side business to just make some extra money or cover vacation trips? How many of you ladies don’t have a Web site? You might answer ‘Yes’ to some of these and assume you don’t need a logo.

Well, I’m probably going to make a lot of you mad right now because I think you do need a logo…no matter the size of your business, if you have a personal Web site or not and if you’ve partnered up with an MLM company. I can see the eye rolls now. But please stay with me. This is Episode 5; do I need a logo.

Okay ladies let’s just dive into this topic. I’m just going to say it; you need some sort of logo. Even if you’re with an MLM company like Beach Body or Young Living or whatever. Even if you make cute jewelry for little girls and sell it through Facebook; you need a logo! It’s all about your personal brand, your individual identity. If you’re creating content, if you’re selling a product or service, people are going to connect with you first before they buy anything you offer.

Let’s take a skin care company for example. Let’s pretend that a stay at home mom, let’s call her Rachel, has a skin care MLM side hustle. She loves the products; she personally has seen great results and she knows this. Rachel can really help other women just like her. So Rachel starts talking about these products on social media. She tells her story. She even starts an email list and reaches out to her leads often. Here’s the problem. She’s too generic when she talks about the products and relies on the MLM company to supply the content. Well guess what? That content is branded to the specific MLM skincare company. What will people remember. Will they remember the MLM company or will they remember Rachel? Even though Rachel may not have her own Web site she certainly has her own story to tell and her own brand to share. Now if you’re not sure what I’m talking about make sure you listen to episode 2: all about personal branding.

So let’s get back to Rachel. Rachel is a skin care consultant and she helps women get their skin confidence back. Now that’s a really powerful brand message. So Rachel really needs to have her name as her logo. This logo, even though it’s just her name, is apart of her brand. She can use her logo in her emails as a signature. She can use her logo on any graphics she creates for social media, even quote graphics. If she prints any personal business cards, she better put her logo on there. Now of course if you’re with any sort of MLM company, it’s in your best interest to check with corporate rules about creating graphics. Just do your homework.

So here’s my point ladies. You want people to identify with you whenever they come across your content, not with the MLM company or the product or service. It’s about showcasing you and a personal logo will help with that.

Here are some benefits to a personal logo:

  • To be memorable, most people remember what they see rather than what they hear. Seeing your logo consistently makes you more likely to be in the forefront of your ideal client’s mind.
  • It’s also a key component to your personal brand.
  • It conveys that you are reliable and reputable.
  • It shows your commitment to your business and audience.
  • It differentiates you from the competition and it makes a good impression.
  • You will be seen as an authority in your niche.

So there are two ways to do this. You can create your logo yourself or you can outsource it. If you’re pretty creative and you’re good with a computer then try Canva. Canva is a free online design tool and they even have logo templates for you to try. If you’re like “no way, I have no idea how to do this,” then I’d suggest starting with a company Fiverr. They have a plethora of graphic designers and some projects can start as low as $20 to $30.

Now if you’re feeling motivated to design your own logo, I have a tutorial today for you. I’ll teach you how to design your logo in under 20 minutes. Remember this ladies, it doesn’t matter what kind of business you have or how big or small, it’s important to establish your personal brand and your unique logo will help. Thanks for listening.
