So let me ask a few questions before I spill the beans about me. How many of you feel this pull or desire in your heart to create or start something, but you’re just not sure how to begin? Nod your head if you have the endless mom guilt because you want to start or grow your business, but you don’t want to miss out on your babies’ lives. How many moms do we have that want the best of both worlds…a stay at home life, but also a profitable home business? How many of you have felt that your ultimate dreams are just silly or ridiculous, but you constantly find yourself pulled in that direction? Well guess what mamas, I’ve been there, and my journey started probably over 10 years ago.

You might look at my social media and think, “wow she’s got the best of both worlds. Lucky her. It must be nice. Obviously, it was easy for her.” Nope, my journey was far from easy. So here’s a quick glimpse into my life. Right now, I am married to my wonderful husband Jim and I have two amazing boys, Jacob and Michael. They’re 14 and 11. Yes, I started with the traditional education. Went to college, graduated and got the job. I worked in marketing for the banking industry. I liked the job, but I hated the corporate scene. I knew in my heart once I had kids, I did not want the 9 to 5 day care life. So I decided to go back to school for my teaching certificate. Then I got pregnant with my first kiddo and I thought teaching was the answer. I would have the best of both worlds.

So I had my first son, I had the teaching job. Then I got pregnant with my second son. I had Michael, went back to work and I hated being away from my babies. Mamas, that was a pivotal moment in my life. My youngest son got really sick at 6 months and that is when I got a phone call at work and an ambulance was called for him. Know now that he is okay. But back then I knew in my heart I’d never return to the job scene and I was determined to be the stay at home mom, and I did it. My husband and I figured out how I would stay home. Now I loved being the stay at home mom don’t get me wrong. But I felt something was missing. I know a lot of you have the mom guilt running to target and so did I. I felt so guilty for buying the extra goodies when I was out with my kiddos. I wanted the best of both worlds, the stay at home mom scene but I also wanted to contribute financially to my family. So back in 2016 my friend introduced me to network marketing. Yes it was an MLM company. It was fine, but it just wasn’t enough for me. It didn’t fulfill my creativity. I missed my creative roots from the corporate world. I wanted to build something that was creative, and I wanted to connect and help other like-minded mom bosses. So back in 2017 that is when I launched Boss Lady In Sweatpants, and I launched it as a mompreneur blog thinking it was going to be a mix of business and mom life. Until I was getting messages and DMs about questions on design and how I created things. Let me tell you moms, in 2017 do you think Boss Lady In Sweatpants was an instant hit? No. I had no idea what I was doing. I had no idea how to market myself. I didn’t even understand my own branding or what a personal brand was. That’s when I went back to my creative roots and I really dived into Instagram and branding. Learning everything I could class after class, trial and error and finally truly understanding what a brand is and understanding Instagram. My vision for Boss Lady In Sweatpants became crystal clear and I knew I wanted to help the mom boss with design and branding especially for social media.

Mama, this podcast focuses on teaching mompreneurs simple methods to branding on social media, especially Instagram and design basics. Like creating a simple logo to designing graphics for Pinterest. Need marketing tools and strategies? I have those for you too and we’re definitely going to chat about mom life and business balance. We’re busy mamas. So my mission is to give you real and practical strategies to help build your brand online in just minutes a day. Because those minutes are hard to come by. We all have a voice and we need to learn to cut through all the social media noise to ultimately grow our brand. When you grow your brand that’s when you’ll see success. I love helping moms discover their power. I love encouraging moms to build their passion. I think you can have the best of both worlds, home with your kids and a successful business.

Before I go, I’ll leave you with this quote. “Moms I see you. You have determination, you have fight in you. You have love. You have things that no one else but you have, and you are the perfect mom for your kids.” I’ll see you next time.
