Was there a time when your kids were young, you were sacrificing your own health to gain business success?

One year ago I was diagnosed with on autoimmune disease, Hashimoto, and I had no idea prior to that. I just thought that I was getting older. I have three kids and running businesses. I’m just tired. But something nudged me to dig in deeper and I went to the doctor.

Now that I have the diagnosis, everything makes sense and I can take a step back and say, “You know what? I’m not going to beat myself up about this diagnosis.”

I think that a lot of the factors that I had prior to me knowing about the diagnosis was myself.

When you’re an entrepreneur, you are highly driven, excited about your business, and oftentimes you can just forget to eat. You can forget to do a lot of different things because you’re immersed in your business, and you love it so much.

Six years ago, I started implementing boundaries in my business, but prior to that I didn’t. I didn’t have a very good boundary for myself, and that was very unhealthy.

Can you go a little deeper and talk about how to set boundaries, so we are not sacrificing our health as we build our business?

In the beginning my boundaries looked like basic work hours. I would get into my office at 9:00 AM, and then leave by 4 or 4:30, depending on when my kid’s got out of school.

I communicated my hours to those who worked with me or for me. If you needed to communicate with me outside of those hours, I’m probably going to get back to you the next business day. That was one of the hardest things for me when I first set hours. I had to retrain myself to check my email and check my messages during those times.

Don’t open your laptop, or don’t open your phone once you are outside of those boundaries. Because, first of all, if you have customers or clients contact you outside of those hours and start responding outside of those hours, you’re training people that they can communicate with you at any hour of the day.

I want to highly encourage anybody that’s listening who does not have a boundary or set work hours in place, execute those as soon as possible.

They will be a lifesaver for you, a lifesaver for your family, and a life lifesaver for your business because when you, when you’re dedicated those hours you utilize that time to the best of your ability.

I know exactly how it feels to try and grow a business and raise a family at the same time! I too want to be fully present with my kids, but also grow my business with ease each week!

I’ve spent countless hours, weeks and months spinning my wheels and “hustling” trying to stay on track and move the needle forward…but so often I’d find myself “stuck” in the same cycle without seeing progress.

I needed to shift gears!

Time blocking was not enough for me. I needed to time block with my CEO hat on. It was time to treat my business like a business, not a “side-gig” or “hobby.”

I finally took ownership of my CEO status and brain dumped all my non-negotiable tasks to keep my business moving, then I created the Weekly Project Workflow for Business Success! Not only did it help me stay on track, it helped me grow and profit in my business!

And now you can have the weekly project workflow too!
